SpinGuard Hardware Kit

Description

The SpinGuard Hardware Kit is a complete cartridge mounting kit containing every mechanical component needed for two full cartridge installations: lead wires, mounting screws, nuts, and tools. The most common cause of a failed cartridge installation is either the wrong screw length — which causes the cartridge body to contact the headshell surface before the screw bottoms out — or insufficient lead wire length, which creates tension on the cartridge pins during tonearm movement. This kit anticipates both problems with two screw lengths and adequately long lead wires.

Kit Contents

Every SpinGuard Hardware Kit ships with the following components, organized in a labelled resealable pouch:

– 4× colour-coded headshell lead wires in 28 AWG OFC — White (L+), Blue (L-), Red (R+), Green (R-)
– 4× M2.5 × 6 mm stainless machine screws — standard length for most cartridge body depths
– 4× M2.5 × 10 mm stainless machine screws — for thick-body cartridges or those requiring extended reach
– 8× M2.5 nylon locking nuts — nylon thread insert prevents stripping on aluminium headshell threads
– 1× 1.5 mm hex key — appropriate size for M2.5 socket-head screws on most cartridge mounting hardware
– Cartridge alignment reference card with Baerwald null points marked

Installation Notes

Correct sequence for cartridge installation using this hardware kit:

– Connect lead wires to the cartridge pins before mounting the cartridge in the headshell
– Use nylon nuts on aluminium headshells; metal nuts risk galling the threaded insert
– Torque the M2.5 screws to finger-tight plus a quarter turn only — over-tightening distorts the cartridge body
– Do not solder lead wire clips to cartridge pins; friction fit is correct and allows non-destructive removal
