Description
The ClearCan Ear Pads are direct-replacement protein leather ear pads for ClearCan Studio Headphones, available in Standard and Wide inner diameter options to accommodate different ear sizes and head geometries. Ear pads are the highest-wear component on any over-ear headphone — the protein leather degrades under sweat, UV exposure, and mechanical compression over twelve to eighteen months of regular use, causing the acoustic seal to deteriorate and the low-frequency response to thin out as the seal is compromised. Replacing ear pads at this interval restores both comfort and performance.
Material Specification and Why Protein Leather Is Used
Genuine leather ear pads are durable but impermeable — they trap heat and moisture against the ear during extended listening sessions. Velour pads are breathable but do not form an acoustic seal, allowing bass frequencies to escape around the ear cup. Protein leather — a microfibre substrate with a polyurethane surface coating — offers a balance between the acoustic sealing of leather and the tactile softness that makes extended listening comfortable:
– 3 mm protein leather over 25 mm slow-recovery memory foam core — seal recovery after removal is consistent
– Moisture-resistant surface coating — wipes clean with a damp cloth without staining or cracking
– Acoustic seal equivalent to the original ClearCan factory pads — confirmed by frequency response measurement
– Twist-lock attachment ring — tool-free replacement in under 30 seconds without removing any screws
– Available in Standard (40 mm inner diameter) and Wide (45 mm inner diameter)
When to Replace Ear Pads
Replace when any of the following is observed:
– Cracking or peeling of the protein leather surface coating
– Foam compression that does not recover — the pad feels flat rather than cushioned
– Loss of bass response at normal volume — the acoustic seal has been compromised
Sold as a pair. Backed by a one-year warranty.
