Description
The ClearCan Studio Headphones are built around a single design principle: the listening experience should not change depending on where you sit. Most headphones have a sweet spot — a narrow range of head positions where the imaging collapses or the frequency response changes if you move even slightly. ClearCan’s bio-cellulose dynamic drivers and precision-machined aluminium yoke ensure that the sound you hear in the centre is the sound you hear at any natural head position.
Bio-Cellulose Drivers and Why They Sound Different
Bio-cellulose — the same material used in high-end speaker cone construction — has a specific combination of stiffness, mass, and internal damping that produces faster transient response than polypropylene and more natural midrange character than titanium or beryllium:
– 40 mm bio-cellulose dynamic driver — combined stiffness-to-mass ratio superior to standard PET film
– Neodymium magnet motor system — lower distortion at high excursion compared to ferrite magnet designs
– CNC-machined aluminium yoke — eliminates driver alignment variation between left and right channels
– Replaceable protein leather ear pads with memory foam — acoustic seal consistent across head sizes
– Detachable cable with twist-lock 3.5 mm connector — cables are wear items; headphones shouldn’t be
Open-Back vs Closed-Back Configuration
The most important choice when ordering ClearCan Studio Headphones is the driver configuration:
– Open-Back — natural, spacious soundstage with minimal colouration; best for home listening, mastering, mixing
– Closed-Back — passive isolation, reduced sound leakage; best for recording, commuting, shared spaces
Both configurations use the same bio-cellulose driver. Open-back has 6 dB more low-frequency extension. Closed-back provides approximately 15 dB of passive isolation. Available in All-Black and Silver & Black in both configurations. Backed by a two-year warranty.
