Description
The FlexLink Speakon Cable connects passive speakers to power amplifiers with the connector that the professional audio industry standardised on for exactly this application. Standard banana-plug speaker cables can be accidentally disconnected under tension, short against a metal rack surface, or pull loose during a performance. Speakon connectors lock mechanically with a quarter-turn, carry current ratings that banana plugs cannot approach, and cannot be reversed. FlexLink Speakon cables bring these advantages to home studio and small venue installations.
Construction Designed for Both Home and Live Use
Most home-use Speakon cables use conductors rated for the bench rather than for actual power delivery. The FlexLink Speakon Cable uses conductor sizing appropriate for the full rated current of a domestic or small-venue amplifier:
– 2 × 2.5 mm² OFC conductors — appropriate for amplifier outputs up to 300W into 8 ohms
– Full-metal NL2 Speakon connector bodies — ABS-bodied alternatives crack under repeated plug/unplug loads
– Twist-lock retention mechanism tested to 500 insertion/removal cycles without locking force degradation
– High-flex jacket rated for coiling in stage applications — maintains flexibility at temperatures down to -10°C
– Available in 3 m, 6 m, and 10 m lengths — covers desktop monitor to small PA system applications
Amplifier and Speaker Compatibility
Speakon NL2 connectors are the industry standard for passive speaker connections on professional amplifiers and powered speaker systems. Key compatibility information:
– Compatible with: all amplifiers featuring Speakon NL2 or NL4 outputs (NL4 sockets accept NL2 plugs)
– Not compatible with: binding post (banana/bare wire) outputs — use banana-plug cables for those
– Speaker end: NL2 Speakon twist-lock on both ends; not for speakers with binding posts without an adapter
Sold as a matched pair for stereo configurations. Backed by a two-year warranty.
