Description
The WarmGain Phono Preamp is the product that exists between two markets: the built-in phono stages on entry-level receivers that add noise as fast as they add gain, and the boutique discrete preamps that require a second mortgage. WarmGain occupies the space those two markets leave open — discrete Class-A circuitry, passive RIAA equalisation, and genuine MM/MC switching, at a price that rewards the listener who has heard what a good preamp sounds like and refuses to go back.
The Engineering Behind the Sound
Every circuit decision in the WarmGain was made to reduce noise at the input stage, where it matters most. The phono signal is among the weakest in audio — and every noise source at the input is amplified to listening level alongside the music:
– Discrete Class-A input stage — no operational amplifiers in the audio signal path
– Passive RIAA equalisation network — ±0.3 dB accuracy from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, measured
– MM/MC switching via rear-panel toggle with dedicated gain settings for each mode
– Regulated linear power supply included — lower ripple than switching supplies at this price
– Separate input and output ground planes — eliminates crosstalk between input stage and output buffer
Colourways and Gain Configuration Options
The WarmGain is available in two finishes, each in two gain configurations for different cartridge output levels:
– Midnight Black / 36 dB MM — for standard MM cartridges with output above 4 mV
– Midnight Black / 44 dB MM — for low-output MM cartridges or those used with long interconnects
– Champagne Silver / 36 dB MM — same specifications, different finish for light-coloured setups
– Champagne Silver / 44 dB MM — same specifications, higher gain
All variants include the WarmGain linear power supply, RCA interconnect cable, and a two-year warranty.
